How to promote the use of glass?

Steven | marketing, advertising & campaigns | Thursday, 07 May 2009

Should it be promoted? Well, yes! Glass is by far the best choice if you care about nature, your health, and so on. If you want to read more about this, check out the 5 good reasons at the friends of glass, they explain in better than I can!

And now, this recycling part, is illustrated very well in this nice funny movie about a bottle named Hank. He keeps on reincarnating :)

He’ll be back! Made by These Days.

Exactly this:

Shake that baby

Steven | marketing, advertising & campaigns,Random Thoughts | Friday, 24 April 2009

One of the things that can make me angry is short-sightedness, and that’s exactly what happened just now. I read in the paper Apple withdrew an application from the Appstore called “baby shaker”. The application did what it says: you have a picture of a baby and can shake your phone hard enough to get brain damage.

Baby Shaker

Some woman named Sarah Jane Brain, complained, Apple canceled the application and apologized, and that’s the end of the story.

Obviously, I fully sympathize with everything than can help avoid shaken baby syndrome, and I feel very sorry for everybody ever involved in such situations. However, an application like this is in my mind a perfect mean to draw attention to the risks and possibly avoid some cases.

Suppose you’re a teenager, installing the application, having some fun, ignorant, .. and you grow up, one day confronted with a crying baby yourself. Don’t you think you might recognize the situation, know the risks, an NOT shake the actual baby? Because I believe you’ll learn something in the end.

Don’t you just love online shopping

Steven | marketing, advertising & campaigns,Random Thoughts | Monday, 20 April 2009

I know I do, for diverse reasons ..

This video is spread by GoViral and the campaign behind not only promotes online shopping, it also gives some do’s and don’ts for e-shopping in Europe. Pretty valuable! Check it out at gimmetheinfo.eu.

We didn’t start the flame War!

Top Spots in Europe – I nominate Antwerp!

Steven | marketing, advertising & campaigns | Wednesday, 01 April 2009

I <3 Antwerp! Sure I don’t live there (I do live in Leuven), but I used to work there for about 5 years and find it a truly inspiring city. Sure, you have some misfits, but other then that there’s just so much going on.

That’s why I decided to promote Antwerp in the European Top Spots competition we earlier launched for club VAIO.

The idea of the competition is to nominate cities all over Europe in 5 style categories: Architecture, Art, Fashion, Food and Music. Based on the votes and tips these cities get, they end up in a general ranking.

Antwerp FTW At this moment Antwerp is only 19th in the ranking, and I know they’re so much more. That’s why I decided to endorse Antwerp, and try to kick it some places up to the top.

You can help me on my mission! Just go to http://antwerp.top-spots.eu to see how the city is doing. At the very right bottom of the site you have the option to register. Take it from there! You got the chance to pick your favorite cities (pick Antwerp!) in all 5 categories.

I’m calling out: please help me promote Antwerp! Show the city the respect it deserves!

Disclaimer: Yes I’m involved in this project, I work at Nascom and we basically created the competition. However, I see this as a opportunity to put Antwerp on an international map, and that’s what I care about :)
Any feedback on the project obviously is very welcome.

So, what exactly is twitter

Steven | twitter | Wednesday, 25 March 2009

To answer that question we have the great Common Craft video that’s been out quite long (but still very relevant).

But now Current has a shot with their own funny video.

It’s funny because it’s true :)

Road safety teaser

Steven | marketing, advertising & campaigns | Wednesday, 25 March 2009

I guess this post is only relevant for the Dutch speaking Belgians. To my international audience: Drive safe!

Jourik of Boondoggle asked me if I was interested in teasing this. Because I like the guy I’m pleased to do so.

There is nothing much to tell right now. Later today they’ll reveal everything on a press conference. For now you can see the teaser movie.

At 17h today we’ll discover more at this url: http://verkeersveiligheid.vlao.boondoggle.eu/
